La Vicuña is a community-driven coffee from northern Peru's rugged highlands. It's produced by an alliance of eleven cooperatives representing about 3,000 smallholder producers across Amazonas and Cajamarca. Their farms lie between 1,500 and 1,600 meters above sea level where they grow Castillo, Caturra, Catuaí, and Bourbon under native shade trees. This coffee is a part of the ElevaFinca project that works directly with these cooperatives on farm renovation and agroforestry where they replant native trees alongside coffee to restore ecosystems while improving long-term productivity. The project also includes a modern mill co-owned by the cooperatives, giving producers more control over processing and quality. This project is more than about producing better coffee. It's about building infrastructure and knowledge that will support these families for generations. La Vicuña offers traceability to a community level and supports long-term sustainability and economic resilience for the families who grow it.
