Stouthaus Coffee Pub will celebrate 11 years this September, with the roasting operation entering year 5! Our company was founded with the intentional purpose of creating meaningful experiences and lasting connections for our staff, neighbors and guests. A safe place to work and a safe place to drink. A community first business, brewing coffee and tea. Many of you have been a part of this journey, living with us in that vision for a majority of our tenure! You’ve witnessed both the evolution of our staff, and the many guests who have become familiar faces and friends to us all. We are deeply grateful for your friendship and support, and thus, transparency here is both owed and essential.
Over the past ten months we've navigated significant increases in our operating expenses. Adverse weather in key coffee-growing regions has substantially reduced crop yields, leading to a surge in the Coffee C-Market prices, and near doubling of our green coffee costs. Similarly, global cocoa shortages have brought us an 80% cost increase for chocolate. And the increasing popularity and demand for matcha has outpaced production capabilities in Japan, resulting in cost increases of nearly 150% for some suppliers.
Coffee, chocolate, and tea are just a few examples of the agricultural commodities we rely on that are experiencing rising costs. Adding to this, we're now starting to see the effects of tariffs on our recent coffee contracts. These factors directly contribute to the increased cost of goods, making it even more challenging to manage our expenses.
Effective July 4, 2025, you will notice a slight price increase fore several of our cafe and roastery items. This adjustment helps us provide fair compensation to the farmers, producers, our staff, and our B2B partners who supply our high-quality ingredients.
We understand that price adjustments can be challenging, and we deeply appreciate your understanding and continued support as we navigate these industry-wide changes. Every cup you enjoy at Stouthaus contributes to something larger than just a beverage - supporting our team and our commitment to quality - and we are honored to share this with you each day.
