We bring this coffee to you from the Rwenzori mountain range, also known as the Mountains of the Moon, which is emerging as a prominent source of high-quality Ugandan coffee. Nestled along the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this region benefits from fertile soil and ideal growing conditions. While Ethiopia is Africa’s top coffee producer Uganda is growing into the continent’s leading exporter for coffee. Advances in farming and processing are helping the region overcome historical socio-economic challenges and further upgrades are being made to help improve the lives of smallholder farmers.
This coffee highlights the natural process where only the ripest coffee cherries are harvested, with drying taking up to four weeks. The cherries are dried whole, without removing the fruit, on raised beds under the sun.
We taste dark chocolate, strawberry and rose hips. It’s a perfect coffee for February as a sweet, fruity, and floral pour over or iced coffee!
